The Anti-Oppression Working Group at Occupy (Decolonize) San Francisco is committed to addressing systemic and interpersonal oppression within OSF, the occupy movement and in the world at large. We understand that in order for the 99% to build a united movement against the 1% we must build a common understanding of how exploitation disproportionately impacts people of color, women, transgender folks, queers, the unhoused, the working class and poor and those who are differently abled. All too often we do the work of the 1% by participating in the systems that maintain oppression. We seek to end oppression within the 99% and to challenge the oppression caused by the 1% through education, mediation, and mass communication and by connecting OSF to already existing struggles for racial, economic and social justice in the Bay Area.

We believe that OSF is an opportunity for us to create a model for the world we wish to see, one that is safe and comfortable for all people to participate in. To do this we must create spaces for honest self-reflection, personal empowerment, community accountability and collective liberation. To accomplish our goals we will support accessible political education at OSF, join working groups to support an anti-oppression framework in all areas of OSF’s work and be a bridge to other organizing in San Francisco by the 99%.

El grupo de trabajo Anti-opresión de Occupy San Francisco está dedicado a enfrentarse con opresión sistémica y personal, en Occupy San Francisco, el movimiento, y todo el mundo. Entendemos que para que el 99% pueda unirse en contra del 1%, hay que crear un entendimiento de los modos en que la explotación tiene mayor impacto en personas de minoría, mujeres, personas transgéneras, queers, personas sin hogares, el proletario, los pobres, y los discapacitados. En vez de participar en sistemas que mantienen relaciones opresivas, vamos a buscar un fin a la opresión entre los del 99%, y combatir el 1% a través de educación, mediación, y comunicación, y por conectar a OSF con luchas por la justicia ya existente en la Bay Area.

OSF es una oportunidad para crear un modelo del mundo que nos gustaría ver. Uno seguro y cómodo en el cual todos pueden participar. Para llegar a este fin, hay que crear espacios para reflexión honesta, empoderamiento personal, responsabilidad comunitaria, y liberación colectiva. Por estas razones, vamos a soportar educación política en OSF, participar en grupos de trabajo, y traer la perspectiva anti-opresiva a todo que hace el movimiento, y conectar con otros proyectos del 99%.
